World Cup 2010 South Africa

It's that time again where the worlds 'best' teams come together to find out who is really the best team in football/soccer. Sadly for Australia our opening match didn't go quite to plan but credit has to go to the German team for outstanding match play. The Germans were just too classy for the Socceroos, however, this I hope won't deter our boys and they'll fight back in their matches against Ghana and Serbia.
From the games I have watched to date the Germans look the stronger team with the Dutch putting in a great performance also.
My only beef is the Referees! I'm only new the game of football/soccer and I am the first to admit I don't understand all the rules pertaining to fouls, penalties and the like but it doesn't take a blind freddy to see when a Ref. is leaning towards one team over the other. You know you're right when the commentators also react to some of the decisions being given and ones that are not given when they should be.
I can only imagine what the Socceroos are thinking and feeling after last nights match but the memory of last world cup must be in the forefront of their minds after the straight Red Card send off of Tim Cahill.
Now don't get me wrong here I'm not only upset about the refereeing of the German-Australia match there are many more instances in other game that have raised some questions about the level of referring. My only assessment of the situation is that no No-Name team will ever be in the final or win the World Cup. Only the well known big teams, and I don't need to mention them, will ever be there in the final. Wether it's too much money involved or somethings else I have no idea but it is just a sad situation for the sport.
In closing though I still plan to watch as many of the games as possible for me in my locations over the next few weeks and hope that the refereeing will improve somewhat before too many more matches are played!
Good Luck to all the teams!
